ABSTRACT

In treatment of systemic hypertension, oral Timolol has been taken and it was found to have an adverse effect on serum lipoprotein levels. But, topical Timolol therapy for increase IOP taken for 15 weeks on 15 patients, was found to have no significant effect. This result is reassuring in view of the large number of patients on this form of long term therapy, and the selection of the type of the beta-blocker to use, should not be influenced by lipid changes associated with the oral form of the drug
